At the end of August, we had the unhappy event of laying my
Step-Father, Fritz, to rest. We also took this opportunity to stay for a while and
explore Schroon Lake for a day. My mom was born and raised here and all of us kids
summered here and know the area quite well. There really isn't
much to say about this visit. It is the first time in 25 years that I've been able
to really visit Schroon Lake and remember my childhood days here. This is where I
caught the largest bass in my age group (17 1/2 inch small mouth bass). This is
where I helped my Grandfather, Elmer Huntly, make pizza sauce for Grandma's pizzaria.
I remember getting up at 4:00 a.m. for a trip to the dump with Grandpa to see the
bears. I remember bringing my first girlfriend to Schroon Lake. Fourth of July, the
Square Dances, Word of Life Island, Chang (Grandma's siamease cat), catching minnows at
the end of the street in the lake, the smell of freshly baked breads and pies... The
memories of my youth
I've included photo's I took while strolling down memory lane, along
with a variety of family pictures. I've also included a few from our trip to
Saratoga Flat Track durring the same vacation. Click on the link below.
These pictures will only be online for two weeks as they take up too
much space on my website. I will be removing them on or about September 27th.
Have fun!
