The Grand Rocket Day Photos

What a marvel!  One thousand model rockets launched in one day at one event.  They said it couldn't be done.   And you know what?  Son of a gun, they were right!  It COULDN'T be done!

You see.  We just couldn't STOP at a thousand!  That's why we launched One Thousand, One Hundred, Thirty Two (1132) model rockets that day.  An average of about one launch every 30 seconds!   And only TRUE launches.  Misfires, Cato's and the like didn't count, and still we lofted 1132 models that day.

So, did we break a record?  I don't know what the record books will say, but the answer to that question is easy: Of course we did!  We broke the record for the largest number of launches at one event, but more importantly, we broke the record for the most fun in 9 hours of rocketry, the most oohhhs and aaahhhhs at one event, the most models built and flown DURING one event, the largest number of kids screaching "Did you see that one?!"

And if I sound too much like I was "involved" in the event, I certainly don't mean to take away the REAL workers and coordinators of this event, Paul Manning and the members of CMASS.  They are the ones that did it!  I was just one of the many preping and flying my models, and in THAT respect, I WAS involved, and glad that I was.

Too many times I find myself flying my models for some event, for others, never for myself.  This event got me back to flying for ME and I loved every minute of it!

Well, enough of that, on to the pictures!  The thumbnails below, with accompanying text, gives but a brief glimps of what the day was like.  Most of the pictures are of my own rockets, but several photos of others too.  Sorry if this seems lopsided, but I only had so many pix avail in my camera that day.
